Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Barbara Elaine McKinley will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2 at Madison House in Cortez.

Barbara was born the daughter of Frederick Raymond and Ruth Hope (Lewis) Graham on Dec. 7, 1948 in Grand Junction, Colo. She passed away at her Cortez home on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at the age of 63.

Barbara married Michael James McKinley on Nov. 3, 1983 in Cortez. They shared 15 years of marriage before his death in 1999. For a number of years Barbara worked as a caregiver in the Cortez area. Devoutly religious, Barbara could be found with her Bible in hand or nearby. She enjoyed time spent playing computer games and, when weather permitted, tending her flowers.

Surviving Barbara are her son, Edward Dennis Guttridge and wife, Dena of Cortez; stepdaughter, Michelle McKinley; grandchildren, Dane Guttridge, Daylan Guttridge, Koltan Guttridge and Koby Guttridge all of Phoenix, Ariz.; and her brother, Bruce Edward Graham and wife, Bernice of Phoenix. Also surviving Barbara are her aunts, Shirley Graybeal of Cortez, Westa Lewis of Clifton, Colo. and Pat Lewis of Idaho; uncle and aunt, Bob and Elda Graham of Gateway, Colo., nephew, Raymond Graham of Phoenix; niece, Susan Alvarado also of Phoenix; and her beloved companion dogs, Nickie and Teeto.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael McKinley; and by a brother, Herbert Dennis Graham.
