Chantell Rae Fury
Chantell Rae Fury was born to Albert Joe Fury and Carol Sue (Knuckles) Fury in Cortez on April 2, 1976. Upon her arrival, Chantell and her family were immediately faced with obstacles to overcome regarding her health. Truly being the gift that she was, it appears that God decided to intervene and deliver her the breath of life that would allow her to remain for years to come. This gift, that we all were blessed to love and enjoy, is the reason why we celebrate her memory.
At a very young age, Chantell quickly developed a love for learning new things and remained eager to share new experiences with family and friends throughout her life. As a student in Dove Creek, Chantell enjoyed FBLA, playing basketball and volleyball, and was eventually elected class president in her junior and senior years of high school. Chantell had an infectious smile and laugh that would melt those around her, and cared deeply for the relationships she established with teachers and friends. Chantell continued to nurture these relationships as the foundation upon which she would build so many more in the years to come.
Chantell continued her education at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo. and graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration on May 9, 1999. After finishing college, Chantell moved to Chandler, Ariz. and landed a job at the Buttes Resort. Due to her outgoing personality, strong work ethic, kindness, friendliness, and charm, Chantell quickly excelled in her position working at the resort. Chantell eventually moved on and settled into her career as a mortgage underwriter with Bank of America. It was also during this time that Chantell decided she enjoyed Arizona enough to settle down and purchase her first home. In Arizona, as it was in Dove Creek, Chantell made many wonderful friends.
As we think of Chantell, we remember a beautiful woman who enjoyed attending church, donating her time to charity, reading, going to the movies, cooking, traveling, and spending time with kids. But above all, Chantell genuinely loved spending her time with the family and friends she ultimately cherished the most.
As mentioned before, Chantell was a gift to so many people and this continues to be true today. We know that through her gifts as an organ donor there are 70 people who can now also consider her a friend. Chantell went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 23, 2012.
Chantell is preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Mary Anna Fury, and Helen and Glen Knuckles; her uncle and aunt Billie and Kathy Knuckles; her great-grandparents, Bill and Lee Knuckles, Clarence and Juanita Sutton, John and Anna Fury, Ludvik and Francis Schovanec and Little Bill and Lucille Goforth.
Chantell is survived by Albert, Carol, Rachelle and Bristol Fury; George and Sally Fury; Matt, Charlotte, Mason and Hayden Forst; Zach and Melinda Spaur; Robert and Ruth Fury; Michael, Donella, Kiara, Mykaela and Ashley Fury; Kyle, Mary Ann, Braden and Kinleigh Christian; Loyd and Deann Knuckles; Scott, Karla and Shelbie Knuckles; Joe, Shelly, Justin, Kevin and Jonathan Purkat; Kent and Tanis Knuckles; Trent, Jessica and Aiden Knuckles; Brent and Beth Knuckles; and Nolan and Amber Knuckles.
