David Lee Wells
Graveside services for David Lee Wells, 64 of Towaoc, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at Cortez Cemetery.
David was born Aug. 19, 1947 in Durango, the son of Sydney Wells and Helen Eyetoo. He passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2012.
David frequently took part in Bear Dances and a variety of traditional Ute activities. He sang for powwows and was also a Sundancer. A very athletic young man, David enjoyed boxing and playing football in high school. David also was a talented guitar player.
Surviving David are his children, Rechanda Bryant Wells and husband Walter of Cortez, Rechanda’s children, Arsenio Paytiamo and wife Delilah and their children, Joy and Julia, Candida Paytiamo and Navar Paytiamo both of Towaoc; Raenda Wells Rodirick and husband Gary of Albuquerque, N.M., Raenda’s children, Matthias and Christian; and David Sidney Wells and wife Virginia Big Soldier Wells of California. David also leaves behind his sister, Rose Wells of Towaoc, her daughter, Erica Ketchum and Erica’s son, Dante Downey; his nephews, Eric, Todd and Chad Eyetoo and Leandrew, Leon and Peter Begay; his aunt, Stella Eyetoo of White Mesa, Utah; cousins, Elliott and Leona Eyetoo of Blanding, Utah; and other extended family, Thelma Whiskers Wells and family of White Mesa, Utah and Monica, Parla, and Arlie Wells of Towaoc. Also surviving David are his half-sister, Fern Jacket and family, Sherry Eyetoo and family of Towaoc, Dixie, Tammy, Jolene and Allegra Eyetoo.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Parley Wells, Raymond Lang, Calvin Wells, and Celia Wells.
