The Cortez Elk’s Lodge #1789 hosted an appreciation dinner for the Cortez Police Department on Friday, Aug. 20. The event was in honor of the service that our men and women put forth to protect our community every day. To show support to our police department, all of our officers and their spouses were in attendance and enjoyed the meal as well. Several Elk’s Lodge members assisted with the dinner by helping grill steaks to order, serving the buffet line and assisting with clean up and additional service to our guests. Along with dinner, the Lodge gave away ten $25 gift certificates for lunch or dinner at the Elks. Entertainment was supplied by local duet, Sweet. They offered a variety show during dinner and finished the evening with dancing. Overall, the evening was very successful and the Chief of Police was very appreciative of the hospitality the Elk’s Lodge showed to his staff.
