Tribal election coming Oct. 12
The Ute Mountain Ute tribe will be conducting an election for two tribal council seats on Friday, Oct. 12. The open seats are currently filled by Juanita Plentyhose and Harold Cuthair.
An election official who did not want to be identified said the tribe is currently conducting background checks on those who filed to run.
The tribe should have a list of candidates in a couple weeks.
The election will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Four council seats will be up for election next year, including the chair and one for a White Mesa, Utah representative.
