Traffic headaches ahead for Cortez-Durango commuters
Road construction between Mancos and the La Plata County line will continue through Nov. 23.
Lane closures are resulting in delays as traffic alternates along the highway. The lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Drivers of the route have reported the trip from Cortez to Durango taking them up to an hour and a half.
The bridge located east of Mancos has been reduced to one lane with a traffic signal that will be in operation 24/7 through Oct. 9. Locals can get around the signal by taking a bypass south of the bridge.
The $5.62 million project started this month and involves resurfacing the roadway.
The project extends from mile marker 56 to mile marker 63.
A & S Construction of Caņon City was awarded the contract.
