Mancos crushes Plateau Valley

Branson Mitchell rushed for 304 yards on 19 carries in leading the Mancos Bluejays to a 46-0 rout of Plateau Valley at home last Saturday afternoon in eight-man football action.The senior running back also recorded a game-high 17 tackles at linebacker and rushed for three touchdowns.

Mancos (3-2, 2-0 Western League) led Plateau Valley (0-5, 0-2 WL) 40-0 at halftime and the Bluejays coasted to their second straight win.

Ty Koppenhafer tallied 13 stops for a stout Mancos defense, while Casey Rohweder recorded a sack.

The Bluejays will play at rival Dove Creek and take on the Bulldogs on Friday at 7 p.m. It is homecoming week at Dove Creek High School.
