New fire management plan underway for Mesa Verde

The National Park Service is preparing a new fire management plan and environmental assessment for Mesa Verde National Park.

The plan, currently in the scoping phase, would be strategic and operational and incorporate new scientific information.

The National Park Service (NPS) seeks to have the plan comply with new national and NPS policies in support of land and resource management objectives.

Public participation in the process is encouraged during the scoping phase and following the release of the environmental assessment.
