Staff trainings for volunteers includes ‘Bridges Out of Poverty’
The shelter will hold staff training Tuesday through Friday, Oct. 9–12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Volunteers are invited to join for any or all of this training at the shelter. On Thursday, Oct. 11 from 1 to 5 p.m., the shelter will conduct a training, “Bridges Out of Poverty” with Mollie Woodard from Homeward Bound, the shelter in Grand Junction, Colo. This is an excellent training for volunteers to attend. It will take place at First National Bank, 140 W. Main St., Cortez.
Bridge Shelter Open House, blessing ceremony
The Board of Directors for the Bridge Shelter invites the public to their Open House on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to come see the shelter, and meet the staff and Board members; there will be refreshments and a blessing ceremony.
The Bridge Emergency Shelter is located at 601 N. Mildred, the north entrance can be reached by parking in the parking area on the north side of the Justice Building at the corner of Mildred and Empire. Contact Donna Boyd at 565-9808, or M.B.
