Lloyd Earl Olson
Lloyd Earl Olson was born Sept. 22, 1915 in Wadena, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Ralph Hasper and Inga Olson. He passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at Vista Grande Inn at the age 97.
On Oct. 8, 1939, Lloyd married Doris Ollie Stiles in Sykeston, N.D. They enjoyed nearly 60 years together before her death in 1999.
Lloyd was first and foremost a cowboy. He worked for approximately 35 years for the Great Northern and Northern Pacific Railroads. Lloyd also worked in the kitchen at the Bar D Chuckwagon and for Coca-Cola in Durango. He was a member of the Durango Lodge and Shrine, the Grange, and the Elks for a number of years.
Surviving Lloyd are his children, Thomas L. Olson and wife Karen of Bargas, Minn., Betty J. Peterson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and James A. Olson and wife Danna of Lewis; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Hasper and Inga Olson; his grandparents who raised him, Engebrecht and Nariana Olson; his wife, Doris Olson; his son, William C. Olson; his twin sister, Laura Webster; his other sister, Irene Olson; and his half-brother, Bob Wright.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
