Ray Vining

Ray Vining, longtime resident of Pleasant View, passed away in Sacramento, Calif. on Sept. 11, 2012 at the age of 87.

Ray owned Vining’s Repair Shop in Pleasant View for many years doing repair work on farm equipment. Several local farmers remember Ray’s shop as where they had their bean knives sharpened each year in the autumn before bean harvest time.

Ray served on the USS LST 628 in the Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Davis of Nevada, Francis Vining of California, and stepdaughter, Vickie Glover; and by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Howard, and sister, Flossie Ann; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial services will be held for Ray Vining at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at the Cortez Cemetery.
