Mary Kathleen Perkins

After six years of painful suffering, Mary Kathleen Perkins passed away Dec. 2, 2012, at her home in Dove Creek. She was 60 years old. She was buried Dec. 3 on her property. People traveled a long way for her graveside service.

Mary was born Oct. 21, 1952, in Tribune, Kan., to James Elbert and Norma Jean Randles. When Mary was about 3 months old and her brother, Arthur, was 2 years old, their mother died from a heart attack. Her dad and Aunt Viola brought the children back to Colorado. Later, Elbert married Marvel Eastin. Mary and Arthur gained a brother, Larry. The kids were raised in Monticello, Utah, and Mary graduated there.

She married Wayne Perkins in May 2, 1974. To their union three children were born, Chrystal, Jeannie and Nicholas. They lived in Blanding, Utah, and Dove Creek. She was a hard worker all her life. She also enjoyed making things for others.

Mary's bright sparkling eyes always made her family and friends feel welcome. Her sweet smile always brightened up their day, and her sunny disposition made everyone happy to be around her. Her relaxed and serene presence always made others feel comfortable.

Surviving Mary are her husband of 38 years, Wayne; daughters, Chrystal Perkins of Blanding, and Jeannie Hutchins and husband Michael of Blanding; son, Nicholas Perkins, also of Blanding; father, Elbert Randles and wife Florence of Cortez; brothers, Arthur Randles and wife Trina of Richfield, Utah, and Larry Darby and wife Barbara of Winnemucca, Nev.; grandchildren, Sheridan Wells, Coolidge Perkins, Kathryn, Justin, Keilan, Dylan, Summer, Decota, and Skylor Hutchins; stepsisters, Glenna Hill, Judy Sanders, Janet Otero, and Ellen Robinson; aunts, Voila Denny, Exia Harding, and uncle, Clifford Randles; and her many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean; stepmother, Marvel Burnside; infant son, Michael Angelo, and by her nephew, Darin Darby.

She was a blessing to all who knew her.
