Wyona Anthony-Mercer hugs her newborn, Marrick John, Wednesday at Southwest Memorial Hospital. Marrick was the first baby of the new year in Montezuma County born at 4:37 a.m. Jan. 1. He weighs 4 pounds and 13.6 ounces. Marrick was due Jan. 30, but came nearly a month early. Tyrell Yellowman is the father.
