Harold L. Belyeu
Harold L. Belyeu, age 72, passed away after a sudden illness on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colo.
Harold LeRay was born on April 1, 1940, in Pea Green, Colo., to parents, John Raymond and Idella Marie (Snider) Belyeu. He attended schools in the area and graduated from Delta High School. Soon after he graduated, he joined the United States Navy in 1962 and served for four years on the USS Enterprise.
Upon return to Colorado following his military service, Harold soon began working for the telephone company, Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph. He retired in March of 1992.
Harold was a charter and beloved member of his church, Gospel Ministries Center. He enjoyed music, ministry and reading the word in the nursing facilities around Western Colorado and also at the local prison and jail. Harold was a character, a jokester and a wonderful man. He will be greatly missed and was adored by many. During his free time he enjoyed trains, walking, hiking, playing his guitar and singing with his wife, Cheri.
Harold is survived by his wife, Cheri Belyeu of the family home; mother, Idella Belyeu; four children; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and his sister, Patsy Marie Belyeu. He was a loving and wonderful caregiver to his mom and sister, Patsy.
Harold was preceded in death by his father, John Raymond Belyeu; brother, Gary Belyeu; and grandson, Shawn Lancaster.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Gospel Ministries Center at 1622 Glenwood, Grand Junction, Colo.
Burial and military honors will take place on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction.
