Brackin Whiteskunk and Briston Walker scored 20 points apiece, and rallied the Panthers to a 64-48 win at Bayfield on Tuesday night in boys basketball action. With the victory, Montezuma-Cortez High School (3-6) swept the season series over the 3A Wolverines (0-5). The Panthers downed Bayfield at home 65-55 on Dec. 14, to give first-year coach Cory Gropp his first win. Tuesday's triumph is the first win on the road for Gropp and the Panthers this season. Alex Lopez chipped in 12 points, as M-CHS trailed 30-29 at halftime. Tyler Kerr paced Bayfield with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. M-CHS begins 5A/4A Southwestern League play next Friday and Saturday at Fruita Monument and Grand Junction Central at 7 and 1:30 p.m.
