Pamela Lee Long
Pamela Lee Long, 68, of Oilton, Texas passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, after a brief battle with lung cancer.
She was born April 5, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan. to Harry Frederick "Fred" Long and Helen Mae Strom. Pam grew up and attended school in Eureka, Kan. and later moved to Wichita where she met and married her husband of 43 years, John Lawrence Long of Bruni, Texas.
Pam resided in many places during her life including Cheyenne, Wyo., Thoreau, N.M., Oilton, George West and Freer, Texas, and Cortez. She enjoyed reading, painting, singing, searching for arrowheads on the family ranch, feeding her birds and deer, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and many friends. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Mirando City, Texas.
Pam is survived by her husband, John L. Long; her children, James R. Baker, Sherri E. (Gene) Wolf, Gerri L. White, Laurie A. (Kenny) Wood and John F. Long; her grandchildren, Steffanie, Sandra and James R. Baker III; Tyler, Kayla and Clinton Wolf; Mason, John "Cody" and Hailey White; and Nathan, Kenneth, Logan and Kourtney Wood.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Howard-Williams Funeral Home, 401 E. Texas St. in Hebbronville, Texas. The memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be sent to ThriveWell Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 29331, San Antonio, TX 78229.
