Amy Lee Sloan

Amy Lee Sloan, 89, of Mesa, Ariz. and formerly of the Four Corners area, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 31, 2012. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Desert View Baptist Church. Interment was held Monday, Jan. 7 at Phoenix Memorial Park. Before moving to Mesa, she resided in Cortez, Mancos and Durango.

Amy Lee was born on Aug. 4, 1923, in Springfield, Colo. to Frank and Miriam Millican. After losing her parents at a young age, Amy was raised by her aunt and uncle in Enid, Okla. She graduated from Enid High School in 1941. On Aug. 2, 1953, she married Leland "Ike" Sloan and moved to Medford, Okla. where they ran a store and propane business.

A kind, loving, caring "mom to all," Amy was a friendly conversationalist who was always interested in other people. Gifted with a beautiful soprano voice, she was involved in the church choir wherever she lived. Her skills in English made her excel as a secretary at Oklahoma Gas and Electric, Arizona Public Service and other companies. A lover of babies and children, she enjoyed many wonderful years with her grandchildren. A wonderful wit and a love of life to the end caused all who knew her to love her.

Amy Lee is survived by her children, Melodie (Blake) Mitchell of Mancos, Larry (Audrey) Sloan of Chadron, Neb., and Jennifer (Paul) Kee of Mesa; her brother, LR (Mona) Millican and sister-in-law, Mary all of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; and by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her beloved husband; and one brother, Frank Millican, Jr.
