Bertha Sanderson of Dove Creek celebrated her 100th birthday on Feb. 2, 2013, at the Cortez home of Bob and Marti Long. Bertha, shown in the center of the group wearing pink, was surprised with her favorite Texas brisket and a beautiful birthday cake. Bertha was born in Boise City, Okla. but has lived most of her life in Dove Creek. This amazing woman has seen many changes and has many stories to tell. Her family is the most important part of her life and her pastimes include doing crafts, embroidery, and quilting. Helping her celebrate this special day were her children, Jim and wife Kathy Sanderson, Mary and husband Norman Hensley, and daughter-in-law Sandy Sanderson. Also enjoying the party were Bertha's grandchildren, Donetta Hegwood, Marti and husband Bob Long, Kurt Sanderson, and Dean Sanderson; great-grandchildren, Alisa and husband Kelly Belt, Rylan Sanderson, and Shannon Hankins; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brock, Jacob and Grace Belt. Friends, Danny, Amy, Dylan and Kooper Long were also there to help celebrate.
