Ute Mtn. Rec. Peechue basketball tourney

The Ute Mountain Recreation Center in Towaoc is hosting its Peechue 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament on Saturday. It's a three-game guarantee and a $30 entry fee. There's three age groups: 14-Under boys and girls; 10U boys and girls; and, 8U boys and girls. Medals are given to all players and trophies are given to the champions. Ute Mtn. Rec. strong kid contest

The Ute Mountain Recreation Center in Towaoc is hosting its first ever strong kid contest on Sunday. There's two age divisions of 18-Under and 14U. Events include a hay bail walk, farmers walk, tire flip and lawn tractor pull. Entry fee is $10. Trophies for the winners and medals for the top three placers. Sign up at the Rec. Center parking lot on April 7, at 10 a.m. Parents must sign a waiver for their kids to compete. Call Rob or Nick at 564-5360 for more information.

Ute Mtn. Rec. spring basketball league

The Ute Mountain Recreation Center in Towaoc is hosting its men's and women's open spring basketball league. Entry fee is $250. It's an eight-game guarantee plus a tournament. It's a 10-player roster and league play starts Tuesday, April 9. Games are played on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For more information, please call 564-5360 and ask for Jonathan.

Ute Mtn. Rec. high school basketball tourney

The Ute Mountain Recreation Center in Towaoc is hosting its high school boys and girls basketball tournament the weekend of April 20-21. It's double-elimination with awards for first through third-place. Entry fee is $125. It's 12 teams in each division. This tourney fills up fast and teams must have a coach on the bench at all times. Pueblo to Pueblo Run

The annual Pueblo to Pueblo, 10K, 11-mile and 2-mile fun run/walk event will be held Saturday, April 27. People can register by going to or stopping by the Cortez Cultural Center at 25 N. Market St., Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or be calling the center at 565-1151 for more information.

Cortez Rec. men's and women's softball

The City of Cortez Parks and Recreation department is now registering for its men's and women's softball league. It's eight league games plus a double-elimination tournament. The season begins Monday, May 13. It's $300 per team. Contact Joye McHenry at 564-4080 or email with any questions.

Golf with Grace tourney

The third annual Golf with Grace golf tournament will be held north of Durango at The Glacier Club on Friday, May 24. This golf tournament is in support of Grace Preparatory Academy in Durango with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund, along with the operating needs for Grace Prep. Tri-City Soccer registrations

Tri-City Soccer is currently accepting registrations for spring soccer. Spring soccer will run from April 8, through May 4, for most teams. There will be teams for children 3 through 13 (based on their age as of July 31, 2012). Placement is based on first come, first served space availability. If a child played soccer in the fall of 2012, then parents do not need to re-register their child. Registrations can be picked up at the Cortez Recreation Center.
