Dorothy Susan Carson

Funeral services for longtime area resident Dorothy Susan Carson will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the Dolores Community Center. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery. Pastor Don Phillips will officiate.

Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel.

Dorothy was born February 20, 1945, in Ashland, Wis., the daughter of Michael and Anna (Drindak) Farkas. She passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at her Dolores residence at the age of 68.

On January 3, 1976, Dorothy and Charles R. “Chuck” Carson eloped and were married in Las Vegas, Nev. They then had a formal wedding ceremony on April 3, 1976, in Los Alamitos, Calif. Dorothy had a passion for teaching. She taught children for 32 years in schools all over the country. She was also a volunteer for Heart to Heart. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, cooking, needlepoint, and painting with watercolors and oils. Dorothy’s family always came first; they were extremely important to her.

Surviving Dorothy are her husband of 37 years, Charles “Chuck” Carson of Dolores; her children, Ginger Kautz and husband, Kip, of Cortez; Cheryl Carson of Cortez; Neil Carson and wife, Shannon, of Durango; and Michael Carson and wife, Sascha, of Cortez; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and by her siblings, Frank Farkas of Milwaukee, Wis.; Paul Farkas and wife, Agnes, of Moquah, Wis.; and Mary Ann Mosouriak of Whiting, Ind. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and by two brothers.
