Randall Gene Durrett


Randall Gene Durrett was born on December 10, 1958, in Minden, La., the son of Alva E. and Loretta (Young) Durrett. He passed away in Farmington, N.M., on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the age of 54.

Randy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the 1970s. He married Sarah J. Phillips on March 6, 1996, in Cortez.

Randy has been employed in the casino business for the past 25 years, including the Navajo Northern Edge Casino in Farmington, as a card dealer. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Alva E. Durrett, and sister, Terry Lynn Harris.

Surviving Randy are his mother, Loretta Durrett of Cortez; his wife, Sarah J. Durrett of Cortez; two daughters: Zerhrena Hogue of Aneth, Utah, and Valencia Stash of Blanding, Utah; two sisters: Adrena Ann and husband Roy Madden of Haughton, La., and Rhonda Sue and husband Gil Martinez of Cortez; six grandchildren: Nolan, Collin and Noah Benally of Aneth, Utah, and Tyler, Alexia and Taylor Rose Stash of Blanding, Utah; and six nephews: Ronnie Morgan, Jr. of Heflin, La.; Cody Morgan of Keithville, La.; Clint Morgan of Sibley, La.;, Lance Martinez of Cortez, Brandon Martinez of Fort Collins, and Scott Harris of Minden, La.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin, La.

Arrangements are under the direction of Four Corners Funeral Chapel, Cortez.
