Maria J. Laymon
Maria J. Laymon passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Mira Loma, Calif., at the age of 72.
She was born to Agustin and Marina Lopez on Dec. 24, 1940, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Maria married Robert C. Laymon on Dec. 30, 1963. They shared 39 years of marriage until his death in 2003.
She loved to spend time with her friends, family, and four grandchildren. She was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. In her spare time, she loved to sew and make fleece blankets. She loved bears and had a great collection of angels. Maria has now become an angel herself and has received her wings.
She lived in Cortez for about six years, where she enjoyed the country way of life, relaxing with her two dogs and two llamas. These years were enriched by her close relationships of family and friends.
Maria was a devoted Catholic, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Laymon. and brother, Agustin Lopez. She is survived by her son, Robert A. Laymon and wife, Debby, of Cortez, Colorado; her daughter, Marina L. Saiz and husband, Dan, of Mira Loma, Calif.; her brother, Sergio Lopez and wife, Estella, of Guadalajara, Mexico; as well as many other family members and friends. Maria was especially proud of her four grandchildren, Adrian and Jaquelyn Saiz, of Mira Loma, Calif.; and Victoria and Andrew Laymon, of Cortez.
A celebration of life and spirit will be held on Sept. 4, 2013 at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church in Cortez.
