Projects, events lined up in Mancos
Will Stone is Mancos' local wainwright. He has built or restored the wagons you see in various locations in town. He is determined to keep the Old West spirit alive and well in the Mancos Valley.
Therefore, he has been busy organizing a chuck wagon Rendezvous scheduled to take place the weekend of Oct. 11-13 at the open space at Main Street and Grand Avenue. He has been working closely with the town of Mancos and the property owner, Sam Hoffman, to arrange permission for the event to happen on the property.
Numerous Chamber of Commerce businesses have come forward to sponsor the event: Goodnight Trail Gallery, Colorado Ranch & Home Realty, Geeks on Grand, the P & D, Mancos Liquor, Fahrenheit Coffee, Artisans and Nathaniel's.
Other businesses include the Grand Ave. Café and the Beehive. A big thank you goes out to Hardison Collins at the Beehive for creating the poster.
Historic wagons will compete for the most authentic. You'll see how the cowboy was fed on the trail. You will be entertained with lots of family activities and games. Everyone is invited to come and browse through the wagon area and learn how and why the chuck wagon was built.
Will Stone says to bring your camera because there will be lots of photo ops for you and your family. You're also encouraged to join in on the fun and bring your guitar, harmonica or banjo if you like.
