Santa's on his way
Santa will be in Dolores on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m., with storytelling for preschoolers at the Dolores Library, and Dec. 13, at 5:30 p.m.
In cooperation with the Town of Dolores, we will have our annual Dolores Yule Log Bon-Fire and tree-lighting celebration. Santa will light the trees around Town Hall. There will be free hot chocolate from Ponderosa, free candy from the Dolores Rotary and the Galloping Goose Historical Society, free cookies from the Dolores Chamber Board of Directors and more. Santa will then be in the Galloping Goose Museum. Starting at 2:30 p.m. Friday, the Newcomb High School Jazz band will visit businesses then will join us for the tree lighting.
Also on Dec. 13, we will judge residential and commercial lights for our Christmas lighting competition. Second- and third-place winners will win more Dolores Dollars this year. The Flying Pig will have music (the Mud Flaps) and snacks at its open house from 4 to 7 p.m. at 501 Central Ave.
The seventh Annual Dolores Toy Drive continues till Dec. 14. To donate new toys, money or know a family in need, contact Laurie at 759-3601 after 4 p.m. or Debbie after 5:30 at 882-2446.
We have our first winners for our Shop Local Dolores Dollars promotion. We had more first-week registrations than before, and we are tripling the number of winners that will be drawn. Each of these four winners won $25 in Dolores Dollars. Courtney Hart and Michael Engleman signed up at Dolores Liquor; Lyndel Green signed up at Giant; and Jack Willett can't recall where he signed up.
There is still plenty of time for you to win. Our drawings will be on both Fridays before Christmas, with the grand prize drawing on Dec. 20.
