Betty Lee Lewis

Betty Lee Lewis of Clifton, Colorado, passed away on Jan. 15, 2014 after a short battle with cancer.

Betty was born on Jan. 19, 1927 Mount Carmel, Illinois to John and Pauline Yarbor. She had fond memories of growing up on the Wabash River. She had 8 brothers and sisters; four of which precede her in death.

Betty married Harold Lewis on Oct. 12, 1946. They had four children; Eddie, Wanda, Melvin, and Linda. Betty spent most of her married life in the Colorado towns of Mancos, Silverton, and Rico. She moved to the Grand Valley in the early 80’s where she and her husband would live out the rest of their days.

In addition to her children, Betty is survived by 9 grandchildren: Karrie, Suwanda, Bryan, Mike, John, Wade, Kenny Lee, Justin, and Robin. 15 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

A visitation was held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction, Colorado on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Graveside services will take place the following day at 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mancos, Colo. with the reception being held at Mountain View Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 near Summit Ridge.
