Karen Maydeen Witcher

Karen Maydeen Witcher, 66, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in Durango. A funeral will be Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. at The Sanford Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Clay Jackson will be officiating. Burial will occur at Sanford Cemetery in Sanford, Colo.

Mrs. Witcher was born May 17, 1947, in Alamosa, Colo., the daughter of Helmer and Faye Sego. She grew up in Manassa, Colo., Kirtland, N.M., and Sanford and graduated from Sanford High School in 1965. She was married to Harold T. Witcher, Jr. in 1966 in Sanford. She lived in Sanford area until 1985, when they moved to Mancos.

She loved the outdoors and family, especially her grandchildren. She raised chickens and farmed eggs; she was a true animal lover.

She is survived by her children: Carl Witcher of Ignacio, Colo., and Virginia Palmer of Durango, Siblings: Virginia Thomas of Kirtland, N.M., and Neoma Boyd of Austin, Colo., 4 grandchildren: Whitney Burns, Ashley, Amanda and Cody Witcher, and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, a brother, Lyman Keith Sego, and her parents.
