Raymond R. Mobley

Ray Mobley, 88, entered this life in Dimmitt, Texas on July 25, 1925. He entered his eternal life on May 11, 2014 in Farmington, NM. He was the third of six children born to H.M. & Gladys Taylor Mobley. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Austin, sisters Nell Miller and Dorothy Reno. Also preceding Ray was his one true love and wife, Hazel in 2007. He is survived by his sister, Marguerite Cole of Hereford, TX and brother, Don Mobley of Farmington, NM.

Ray and Hazel McMahon met in the sixth grade and married in 1945. The union of 62 years produced three children: Kent, Karla & Kirk. Leaving the farm in 1958 they moved to Cortez, CO where Ray began a new career in the oil field. Ray’s quick wit and infectious smile were the trademark of his magnetic personality. Always ready with a joke or a quip, Ray was a stranger to none. Losing his father at an early age did not affect Ray’s desire, dedication & success in becoming a loving and supportive dad. His favorite role was PaPa, one in which he excelled.

In 1965, Ray established Mo-Te, Inc. in Farmington. After Kent’s graduation, the family moved to Farmington in June 1966. Ray taught his children the value of hard work, resulting in all three continuing to work at Mo-Te today. Ray & Hazel were a team at home and in their years of service at Emmanuel Baptist Church, where Ray served as a Deacon. And the two are once again together…eternally.

Ray is survived by his children: Kent (Cindy) Mobley, Karla (Terry) Hayes, Kirk (Veda) Mobley of Farmington.

Funeral services for Ray will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 211 W. 20th St., Farmington on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The grandchildren who served as Pall Bearers for MamMa’s service are honored to serve at their Papa’s.

Arrangements are with Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., Farmington, (505)325-8688. Those who wish to send condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com.
