Lipbone Redding performing Sunday at Dancing Spirit
Entertainer Lipbone Redding will perform and give a kids' introduction to music workshop Sunday as a fundraiser for the Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center in Ignacio.
The kids' workshop will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $5. Participants will have a chance to join Redding on stage during his performance.
A barbecue dinner will be served from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by Redding's performance from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Dinner and concert tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple, free for kids age 12 and under. Advance ticket purchase is recommended. Tickets are at Dancing Spirit, Ignacio Floral, and Roots Natural Foods.
Redding also performed at Dancing Spirit last summer. He performs jazz, blues, soul, and funk music, accompanying himself on guitar and embellishing vocals with other instrumental sounds that he makes with his mouth.
Parade entries due Wednesday
Entries for Bayfield's 4th of July parade are due Wednesday at Bayfield Town Hall. The registration fee is $35. The parade is set for 10 a.m. Friday, with lineup starting at 9 a.m. at the old Bayfield Middle School.

Clairvoyant Dolan giving readings today at Dancing Spirit
Clairvoyant Trisha Dolan is giving private readings for individuals today at Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center in Ignacio. Readings are from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 5 p.m. They are $60 for a half hour or $120 for a full hour. Call 563-4600 for an appointment.
From 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, Dolan will do "Hello Again from the Other Side" sessions for $25. These are messages from departed friends and loved ones.

Cattlemen holding annual picnic tomorrow
The La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen and CowBelles are holding their annual picnic starting at 11:30 June 28. The picnic is at the Cundiff Ranch at 6071 CR 501. Dinner will be served at noon. All are welcome, please bring a dish to share.
5K set for July 4
Skills for Living and Learning will host its annual 5K runand family walk on July 4, starting at Joe Stephenson Park. The race starts at 8 a.m., the 1K walk at 8:15. Preregistration is $25, or the day of the race for $30. The family walk is $30. Registration forms are at Bayfield Town Hall, Your Running Store and Brown's Sporting Shoe in Durango.
FireWise offers chipper rental rebates
FireWise of Southwest Colorado is offering a Chipper Rental Rebate Program for residents needing to reduce slash from wildfire fuels mitigation on private land. The program, which began May 1, is open to all residents in La Plata, Montezuma, Archuleta, Dolores, and San Juan Counties.
It will reimburse residents the lesser of $100 a day or 50 percent of the chipper rental cost or a mitigation company providing the chipping services. Homeowners associations that sponsor a neighborhood chipping day can receive the lesser of $250 a day or 50 percent of the chipper rental cost. The program is offered on a first-come, first -serve basis and will run until Oct. 31 or until the money runs out. Rebate forms are available in local equipment rental shops and online at www.southwestcoloradofires.org.
