Youth Works spruces up Cortez

Jacob Pace, of YouthWorks, rigs a system to paint a house across the hedges at 700 N. Beech St. on Wednesday. Groups of 75 teenagers are coming to Cortez each week in July to paint houses for the elderly and disabled. The teenagers also sponsor a non-denominational children’s program at the Seventh Day Adventists Church from 12-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The teenagers come from churches as far away as South Dakota and Texas. Housebound residents can call Claire DesHotels at 952-564-4323 to see about getting their house painted. Enlargephoto
