All should put irrigation water to good use

In this time of drought our water should not be used to water large fields of thistle and weeds as seen on the left side of the highway on the drive from Cortez to Dolores.

Some take for granted that we live at the source of water for the Western U.S. and forget that any water we conserve here doesn’t mean more for Phoenix or Las Vegas, but means more for the crops and ranchers who actually need it in our area. And a few businesses in town have been washing parking lots on a daily basis instead of sweeping.

Everybody wants the lake to fill up, but we must all do our part to conserve.
