Gerald Buchholz

Funeral services for Gerald Buchholz will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8 at Four Corners Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Goodman Point Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Montezuma County V.F.W. Post No. 5231.

A visitation will be held at Four Corners Funeral Chapel on Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m. Rosary services will begin at 6 p.m. The celebrant will be Father Cyprian O.S.B.

Gerald was born on June 20, 1932 in Roggen, Colo. the son of Ferdinand and Marie Agnes (Rau) Buchholz. He entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Vista Grande Inn. Gerald was 82 years old.

An Army veteran Gerald served in the Korean Conflict. On August 30, 1969 in Guadalajara, Mex. Gerald married Josefina Guadalupe Orozco. With this union six children were born. He worked in the Mechanical Engineering field, but was an avid HAM radio operator in his spare time. Viticulture (the cultivation of grapes) was also a passion of Gerald’s.

Surviving Gerald are his wife, Josefina Guadalupe (Orozco) Buchholz of Cortez; his children, Michael Buchholz and wife, Monica, Regina Ford and husband, Mike, Rebecca Busing and husband, Thadd all of Cortez, Geraldine Goodall and husband, Rick of Dolores, Nathan Buchholz and wife, Citlalli, and Elizabeth Wilson and husband, Joe of Cortez; and by 33 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ferdinand and Marie Agnes (Rau) Buchholz; his granddaughter, Helen; and his six siblings, Regina, Helen, Richard, Inez, Patricia and Fred.

Services are under the direction of the Four Corners Funeral Chapel.
