Redwine investigators: We want to leave no stone unturned
Efforts shed no light on case of missing teen Dylan Redwine
Investigators on snowshoes have searched several locations, including under bridges, this week for 13-year-old Dylan Redwine, who went missing in November north of Vallecito Reservoir.
Investigators have looked in three different locations: one in La Plata County, one in the high country north of Durango and one in eastern Colorado, said Dan Bender, spokesman with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.
He declined to be specific about the locations.
The searches did not yield any new evidence in the 3-month-old investigation, Bender said. The searches were done based on tips given to a task force assigned to investigate the case, he said.
“We’re searching for evidence that would, hopefully, lead us to locating Dylan,” Bender said.
The search in eastern Colorado was done by another agency.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to follow up on every tip, regardless of reliability, including those from psychics and mediums, said Investigator Ed Phippen, in a news release issued Thursday.
“We want to leave no stone unturned,” Phippen said.
Authorities also released an updated timeline detailing Dylan’s activities Nov. 18, the day he arrived in La Plata County for a court-ordered visit with his father:
5:46 p.m. Dylan arrived at Durango-La Plata County Airport.
7:05 p.m. Dylan was seen at Walmart in Durango.
7:22 p.m. Dylan and his father went to McDonalds in Durango.
9:37 p.m. Dylan sent his last text message.
Mark Redwine, Dylan’s father, is the last person identified as having seen Dylan. Mark Redwine told investigators he saw Dylan early Nov. 19 at his Vallecito home. The father ran errands in Durango, and when he returned four hours later, the boy was gone.
Investigators have confirmed Mark Redwine visited the locations where he said he was the morning his son disappeared.
Authorities executed an extensive search warrant Nov. 29 at the father’s home.
Several forensic test results have been returned, and the Sheriff’s Office is working jointly with the FBI to review the results, Bender said. Additional interviews are being conducted both locally and outside the region, he said.
Family members plan to rally outside the father’s house at 10 a.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of County Road 500, north of Vallecito Reservoir.
The rally is intended to remind the public that Dylan remains missing and put pressure on the father to communicate more with the family and to participate with search-related activities, according to organizers.
Mark Redwine said the rally is a “misguided attempt” to place blame on him. He does not plan to be home during the rally.
