Head-on puts two drivers in hospital
Both are in good condition after crashing on U.S. 160
The drivers of both vehicles in a 9:30 p.m. accident Thursday on U.S. Highway 160 just west of Lightner Creek Road remained in good condition Friday.
Jo Fusco, 74, the driver of a 2012 Ford SUV, is at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood. Emily Byers, 32, who was driving a 2004 Jeep SUV, is at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper Stephanie Guilfoil said Fusco, eastbound on Highway 160, strayed out of her lane and hit the westbound Byers vehicle.
“It was a direct head-on,” Guilfoil said. “Both air bags deployed.”
Fusco was cited for careless driving with bodily injury, Guilfoil said.
Fusco had a head injury, Guilfoil said. Byers suffered broken bones.
No alcohol or drugs are believed to be involved, the trooper said.
