Jean Marie Schultz
Bayfield resident Jean Marie Schultz died of cancer Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at her home. She was 69.
Mrs. Schultz was born to Eugene and June Pulliam on Sept. 13, 1943, in Las Vegas.
In November 1965, she married Ted Schultz in New Mexico.
She lived in West Linn, Ore., for 32 years before moving to Bayfield seven years ago.
While raising her two children, Mrs. Schultz had a successful seamstress business. She was an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society as unit president, with the school PTA and with various West Linn Lutheran church organizations, including the Luther League.
Her passion in later years was learning and doing Navajo weaving. One of her first weavings was of Mount Hood.
“She felt that mountains gave her strength,” her family said. “She fought cancer for 20 years before being taken by it.”
Mrs. Schultz is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ted Schultz of Bayfield; children Ted Schultz of West Linn and Erica York of Knoxville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
A private family gathering will be held to place her ashes in the columbarium in the Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1800 East Third Ave., Suite 101, Durango, CO 81301.
