Wilber
Sheila Kay Wilber
Sheila Kay Wilber, longtime area resident, was born Dec. 1, 1952, in Canastota, N.Y., the daughter of Harry David and Elizabeth Mae (Miller) Sampson. She passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the age of 57.

Sheila married Gary Paul Wilber on May 1, 1976, in Durango, and they shared 34 years of marriage. She was a graduate of Fort Lewis College and had been employed as a teacher and program coordinator for English as a Second Language. She had enjoyed her travels in South America. Sheila's hobbies included horseback riding, bird watching and reading.

Surviving Sheila are her husband, Gary Wilber of Mancos; one daughter, Lara Wilber of Denver, Colo.; her mother, Elizabeth Sampson of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and a sister, Shelley Cobau of Santa Fe, N.M.

Following Sheila's wishes, no memorial services will be held. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Sheila Wilber with For Pet's Sake, PO Box 1705, Cortez.
